TEF Program Director Role & Responsibilities

Tech Education Fund (TEF) is a registered nonprofit organization, Springfield, VA. The mission of the organization is to serve the needs of minority and disadvantaged community members of Mongolia, who want to pursue education and professions in the technology sector and STEM fields. The organization will support the students with disadvantaged backgrounds with mentorship, subsidized loans, and resources needed to study education programs that empower students to escape from poverty and improve their livelihoods on their own.

The organization will support the students with disadvantaged backgrounds with mentorship, subsidized loans, and resources needed to study education programs that empower students to escape from poverty and improve their livelihoods on their own. 

TEF is looking for a part-time program director, who can help with programs, fundraising events, and student programs. The job can be done remotely.

80% of time: lead fundraising efforts

  • Director’s main job is to lead and manage efforts for fundraising ideas and events
  • Conduct grant opportunities research for TEF from local, state organizations and companies in the technology field.
  • Make sure the team has a solid social media content strategy and presence. 
  • Manage other staff members and help them accomplish their goals.

20% of time: organizational and coordination

  • Implement partnership programs and strategy
  • Organize the files and information
  • Coordinate teams including other program managers, contractors, volunteers and BOD

Expected outcomes and deliverables

  • Have a detailed plan for TEF’s fundraising events and programs, which can increase our donation pool by at least 50-100%.
  • A good social media presence
  • Have identified a list of grants that we can apply for
  • Have completed at least 2 grant applications

Duration and time commitment

The volunteer job for Director is for 6-12 months. The volunteers are expected to spend 2-5 hours per week depending on the goals and priorities.

Skills and qualifications:

  • Fluent in English (reading, writing, and speaking skills). Language ability in Mongolian is desirable
  • Have at least 3-5 years of prior professional experience in nonprofit management, fundraising, grant applications, writing, communicating, and event planning.
  • Experience in social media marketing
  • Experience in managing and leading a team
  • Well-organized and detail oriented
  • Send update or report to the Board of Directors weekly basis
  • Have BA or MA degrees in a relevant field
  • Interest in STEM and contributing to community development project
