Funding and Support
Grants and funding are what helps most students get through school. We want to be a source for not only funding, but for low-interest loans for people from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Our founder Shuree Gootiiz grew up in Mongolia and lived as many Mogolians still do, taking their sustenance from the land and their herds. She spent much of her day fetching water and attending to many household tasks that mostly filled her days. One day she went with a friend who had an apartment in the city, and she saw there was running water—right inside the apartment. This was something extraordinary and set her to dream of having this for herself one day. She had to ask herself how this comes to pass, and the answer was and is—education.
This began her rather fantastic journey from a simple country girl to becoming a highly educated professional. We encourage you to watch her TED Talk and hear it for yourself. There seemed little hope she could get any education given her slim resources and the slim resources available in the Mongolia of her youth. Hers is a story of indomitable will, taking every opportunity, and when none existed, she made a one.
Having achieved her goal through sheer determination and smarts, she today wants to help people in her old situation. Her expertise and desire to give back were the impetus to create the Tech Education Fund. Our mission is simple. To provide low-interest loans, provide resources for scholarships; we look at it from all angles, just as Shuree had to at the beginning of her journey.

We aim to serve the needs of minority and disadvantaged community members who want to pursue education and professions in technology sector. Our organization will support students from disadvantaged backgrounds by providing mentorship, funding, grants, loans, and resources needed to enroll in higher education programs. We want to empower students to rise up from poverty and improve their livelihoods on their own terms.
We reached our dreams of getting good education in the US and helped our other family members to succeed. This story shows that education is the best investment that community could make in reducing poverty in the US and beyond. Specially, education in technology can be very powerful.
Shuree Gootiiz and Ariel Wycoff of the U.S. Department of State traveled from Washington DC to attend the fundraising event, sponsored by the Allentown West Rotary Club, to benefit the Mongolia 21|21 Initiative, which resulted in four Mongolian students from Khovd Province receiving one-year scholarships.
